Mountain Trekking

Sagada is a prime spot for mountain trekking with its large acres of forests and grasslands coupled with variety of terrain. Starting from the road end in Batalao, the participants scale the pine-shaded trail to Lamagan, more popularly known as Marlboro Hills due to the wild horses that roam its rolling grasslands. From here, the trail winds down to Blue Soil and Kaipitan Limestone Cliff Before exiting in

a lay bay along the Balili-Suyo-Sagada Road.

Spelunking/Caving

Complementing the traverse is a one and a half hour spelunking at Balangagan Cave, also known as Marcos Cave. This winding cavern offers the most enchanting spectacle of stalactites, stalagmites, pillars/columns, draperies and flowstones, most of which are still in the process of formation by carbonate deposition. This grotto complex is made up of three layers: the lower galleries which feature pitch black stalactites, sand dune and subterranean river; the middle level with its serried white rock formations, musical draperies and fruit bat colonies; and the upper chamber with its variety of magnificent flowstones, pillars, tunnels and burial corridors. Unlike Sumaguing Cave and Cave Connection where the chambers are located deep below, spelunking at Balangagan Cave follows an ascending and circuitous route along immense chambers before exiting in an aperture about 30 meters above the main entrance.

Canyoning/Canyoneering

The next stage of the adventure is a beginner canyoneering experience in Ubwa Canyon, home to cascading waterfalls with numPerous short drops. Its sheer isolation and raw beauty provide the wonderful stage for the breathtaking vistas of Southern Sagada. The canyon has a sublime character, wild and resilient yet navigating it is easy to moderate. The emphasis, therefore, is more on aesthetics and fun rather than pure difficulty. The descent culminates with a 10 foot jump into a pool of crystal clear water.

River Tracing

River tracing in the Bangaden river is a combination of trekking, rock climbing, boulder hopping and scrambling. Jump over boulders when encountering a deep pool and climb over it to conquer a waterfall. Difficulty level is easy and perfect for beginners. Marvelous scenes are spread upstream comprised of cavelets, rock formations and limestone cliffs. This activity is the coolest way to experience the beauty of Southern Sagada and brings you an unforgettable experience.
